On our second visit to New York City, our family still desired to visit some typical icons of the city. To TOP off our trip (ha ha), we spent our last evening in the city on the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center), watching the sunset and the city begin its glow. The view of the city from the top of this building is amazing, especially getting to see the transition from day to night. The top floors are completely surrounded with glass, but between the large thick sheets of glass are gaps that were just wide enough to fit a hand, camera, or my camera lens! And while I'm sure the gaps are there for wind purposes (because, BOY, was it windy up there), it sure was fabulous for getting great images. Of course, the Empire State Building is a central point in the city, but if you look past it, you'll find the new World Trade Tower, as well as the Statue of Liberty in the Bay. It's amazing to look on the city and realize that 100 years ago, Lady Liberty was one of the tallest sights. What amazing growth this city has seen.
